The Australasian College of Emergency (ACEM) is world renowned and oversees emergency medicine across the Asia Pacific region.
Due to the blended nature of the Australian and New Zealand healthcare systems many emergency positions are also filled by General Practitioners with emergency skills who provide an essential service.
These posts can also be overseen by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Health (ACRRM) and the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) respectively.
Permanent and locum positions are available from Resident Medical Officer (RMO) through to Clinical Director level.
Full time salaried positions can attract a yearly package of $500,000 and locum rates can be up to $3,000 per shift, however average around the $2,500 mark
Opportunities are available in both public and private hospitals as well as urgent care settings.
Emergency Medicine specialist training is overseen by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM)
Emergency Medicine Specialist training in the Republic of Ireland is coordinated between the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and the Irish Committee for Emergency Medicine Training. Irish trainees sit RCEM exams and become a fellow (FRCEM)
